SCOW Wine Tasting Sept. 7 Features Latin American, Spanish Wines

Wines from South America, Spain and California will be featured at a tasting to benefit the Spanish Community of Wallingford on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at the Toyota Oakdale Theatre, 95 South Turnpike Rd.  in Wallingford.

A special feature of the tasting will be a Pinot Noir wine from the small family-owned Renteria Winery which has been farming wine grapes in the Napa Valley since 1963 and began producing wines in 1997.

The winery only produces small lots of vineyard- designated wines and specializes in Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The fundraising event will also feature Jason Jenkins, a flamenco guitarist, and hot and cold appetizers.  Jenkins has worked with Carlos Santana, Al Di Meola, Corey Glover, Frankie Negron and actress/singer Jamie-Lynn Sigler, among others.

“The event is not only a way to raise funds for SCOW,” said Maria Campos Harlow, executive director of SCOW, “But also a way to showcase wines that are part of the rich Spanish and Latino cultural tradition.”

The event is open to the public and tickets are available by calling SCOW at (203) 265-6866.

SCOW has served Wallingford for more than 40 years. Its mission is to responds to the needs of the Latino Community by assisting them to succeed in U.S. society, and to enable Latinos to maintain and share their rich varied cultures with the broader community
