WALLINGFORD — Choate Rosemary Hall will host a concert Friday to benefit the Spanish Community of Wallingford.

The concert, titled “Noche de Musica,” will feature Villalobos Brothers, a Mexican trio of violinists and singer-songwriters who have previously performed at Carnegie Hall, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the 60th Anniversary of the United Nations.

“They are just dynamic, exciting, riveting performers,” said Kalya Yannatos, director of Choate’s Paul Mellon Arts Center. “Their music is a combo of all sorts of genres. They don’t really fit a box.”

Students from SCOW’s music program will open the show with three songs, SCOW executive director Maria Campos-Harlow said.

All proceeds from the concert will go to SCOW, which Campos-Harlow said is facing tough financial times due to recent losses in state funding.

“We are in really bad shape right now,” Campos-Harlow said. She noted that 40 percent of SCOW’s revenue comes from the state.

Campos-Harlow expressed appreciation for Choate’s support.

“We’re just so grateful for them accommodating us and their support. They’re helping us raise money that we very much need,” she said.

This is the second concert Choate has hosted at the Paul Mellon Arts Center to raise money for SCOW, which is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year.

“We want them to keep going, so this is just a little bit of a boost to ensure their longevity,” Yannatos said about SCOW.

Campos-Harlow said $13,000 has already been raised through sponsorships for this year’s show. Sponsors include Ulbrich Stainless Steel, Anthem Inc., First World Mortgage and the Hispanic Federation, Harlow said.

The concert will be held 7:30 Friday at the Paul Mellon Arts Center, 333 Christian Street. Tickets are $20 and $16 for youths and seniors. Tickets can be purchased through the box office at (203) 697-2398 or online at choate.edu/boxoffice.com
