Hispanic Heritage Month was celebrated with The Villalobos Brothers, acclaimed as one of today’s leading world music and contemporary Mexican ensembles. The talented pop violinists, were joined by the Mariachi Academy of Connecticut for this special fundraising performance to benefit our agency.

This concert was dedicated to the memory of our friend and mentor

All of us consider it a blessing to have known Fred these past five years.  SCOW’s association with this extraordinary person began when he visited our agency to view some Latino artists’ work.  His natural curiosity led to a conversation with Maria Harlow about the future of the agency, and a wonderful relationship blossomed from there.  Fred became a willing donor to our fundraising events, then a student in our Spanish class, and finally a mentor to all of us in the art of fund solicitation.

One of Fred’s most endearing attributes was his ability to make everyone around him feel at ease despite his astounding accomplishments and status as a community leader.  It was a joy to be around him.  We miss his warmth, wit and wisdom, but we are all the better for his being part of our lives.

Date:                      Friday, October 10th.

Time:                      7:30 pm (Pre-concert reception at 6:30 pm).
