Lizandra was born and raised in Aguada, Puerto Rico. She migrated to Connecticut with her family shortly before her 9th birthday and has lived here since then. After graduating from Maloney High School in 1996, she attended Atlantic Union College in South Lancaster, MA for 2 years, where she majored in Social Work with a minor in Criminal Justice. She moved back to CT in 1998 and attended Central Connecticut State University. She graduated in 2002 with a Bachelors degree in Communications and a minor in Sociology.
She has since worked for CT’s Birth-to-Three Program as an Interpreter/Translator & Early Intervention Associate and as a Medical Interpreter/Cultural Mediator for the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, where she gained a Professional Certificate in Medical and Community Interpreting from AHEC.
She joined the SCOW team at the end of 2011, where she continues to do what she loves the most…working in the social services field and facilitating communication between Spanish and English speakers.
