Adriana Rodriguez

Executive Director

Adriana began her association with SCOW as a volunteer in 2006. Now, as Children and Youth Program Director, she creates, implements and directs the many youth programs at the agency. She serves as friend, mentor, leader, sister-confessor and role model to every student in every youth activity at SCOW.

Lizandra Mejias-Salinas

Assistant Executive Director

Lizandra was born and raised in Aguada, Puerto Rico. She migrated to Connecticut with her family shortly before her 9th birthday and has lived here since then. After graduating from Maloney High School in 1996, she attended Atlantic Union College in South Lancaster, MA for 2 years, where she majored in Social Work with a minor in Criminal Justice. She moved back to CT in 1998 and attended Central Connecticut State University. She graduated in 2002 with a Bachelors degree in Communications and a minor in Sociology.

She has since worked for CT’s Birth-to-Three Program as an Interpreter/Translator & Early Intervention Associate and as a Medical Interpreter/Cultural Mediator for the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, where she gained a Professional Certificate in Medical and Community Interpreting from AHEC.

She joined the SCOW team at the end of 2011, where she continues to do what she loves the most…working in the social services field and facilitating communication between Spanish and English speakers.

Maria Pilar Solis

Senior Office Administrator

Pilar, as she is known in our community, was born and raised in Mexico City. She graduated and completed a certificate program in Administration-Accounting from CBTis No.6 Technical School in Mexico City. She moved to the United States in June 2003 and joined SCOW as a volunteer that same year. Four years later, Pilar joined the SCOW staff officially as an employee as the Adult Program Coordinator.

She has since obtained various certificates including Certificate for Volunteer Counselors for the CHOICES Program, Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (Tomando Control de Su Salud), Diabetes Self- Management Program (Leader for the Diabetes Live Well Program), and most recently she has been accredited by the Board of Immigration Appeals as a certified representative.

Her main focus continues to be helping the community to access the essential needs and services in order to adapt and improve themselves in this country.

Jennifer Sanguano Loor

Client Services/Program Specialist

Jennifer was born and raised in Quito, Ecuador, moved to the United States in 2011 and attended Gateway Community College where she obtained her Associates Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences. She began her association with SCOW as a volunteer in 2017 while working as a state program operator for the Ecuadorian Consulate Contingency Plan supporting Ecuadorian immigrants in the U.S. She received her B.A in Journalism from Central Connecticut State University in 2019.

Elsie Crean

Grants & Office Coordinator

Stone Business College Graduate and Lyman Hall Alumni. Elsie Crean worked at the Wallingford Town Hall and continues to be involved with the community at SCOW.

Evangeline Mendoza Bourgeois

Volunteer Music Director

Bilingual, Mexican-American, born and raised in a Mexican community in Arizona. B.A. in Piano; M.A. in Harpsichord.  Extensive experience in performance, teaching of instruments and theory, and direction of choirs. Formal private and classroom teaching at all levels from kindergarten through college seniors.

Evangeline is founder of the Escuela Guadalupana de Musica at SCOW and the Mariachi Academy of Connecticut that currently counts with two chapters, Wallingford and Hartford. The Escuela has educated in music instruction over 100 children ages 7 and up and currently counts with near 50 students.

Steve Knight

Volunteer Development Chairman

Steve calls Waterbury his hometown, and has lived in Wallingford since 1986.  He received a B.A. degree in Economics from St. Lawrence University.  He owned a freight transportation consulting business from 1987 until his retirement in 2012.

He was elected to the Wallingford Town Council in 1993 and served until 2008, including two terms as Vice Chairman.  In his retirement, Steve serves on the boards and committees of numerous civic and nonprofit organizations in Wallingford, including Wallingford Center Inc., Hubcap Wallingford, Rotary Club of Wallingford, and the Wallingford Republican Town Committee.  He also writes a biweekly column on Wallingford current events for the Record-Journal.

Steve has been a member of SCOW’s board since 2006.  Besides serving as development chair, he is also presently the board treasurer.

Judah Lopez

BIA Accredited Representative for Immigration Services

Originally from Buffalo, NY Judah Lopez relocated to Wallingford in 2011 and began taking Spanish Classes offered at SCOW. She quickly fell in love with the mission of agency and began volunteering. Judah has assisted with the Adelante teen leadership program and was an active board member for five years. Now, as a Board of Immigration Appeals Accredited Representative, she spends her time volunteering to provide charitable immigration services at SCOW.
